The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations across their terminal or warehouse facility. They play a critical role in minimizing downtime, supporting operations, and maintaining compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. They perform minor repairs, conduct routine and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and oversee the performance of both in‑house and vendor-supported systems.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safety compliance across all assigned areas and proactively identify and resolve potential hazards.
- Perform diagnostics, routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on facility systems and structures.
- Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical infrastructure.
- Conduct mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural repair work throughout the facility and terminal environment.
- Maintain and repair dock doors, roll‑up doors, guard rails, bollards, dock plates, and other freight-handling equipment.
- Identify and execute opportunities to perform repairs in-house when appropriate to reduce vendor costs and improve response time.
- Ensure equipment is safe, functional, and ready for use.
- Respond quickly to maintenance needs and implement preventative maintenance strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Oversee vendor support, including scheduling, service coordination, and account management.
- Obtain quotations, manage vendor contracts, and ensure vendors meet established service-level expectations.
- Maintain relationships with third‑party providers, including propane suppliers, fire‑panel services, access control systems, landscaping/irrigation, janitorial, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC professionals.
- Collaborate with internal teams to plan maintenance activities that support smooth terminal operations.
- All other duties as assigned to meet evolving business needs.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Certification/Licensure: Technical certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related fields preferred.
- Experience: Previous maintenance/construction/skilled trades experience or apprenticeship preferred.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and plumbing troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to safely operate tools, lifts, ladders, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document work clearly.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, equipment manuals, and maintenance documentation.
- Experience working in a warehouse, freight terminal, or industrial environment preferred.
- Demonstrated discretion and confidentiality in handling and protecting sensitive information.
- Technical: Proficient with common office technologies, including Windows PCs, Microsoft O365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and web conferencing platforms (Teams, Zoom, Webex).
Environment: Comfort commuting to and working in a 100% on‑site environment (as listed in this posting).
