Our client is currently seeking a Senior Specialist Engineer – Optimization Project Lead to support the development of a major project located in Northern Quebec. This initiative represents one of the most ambitious mining developments in recent decades.

Position Overview

Reporting to the technical leadership team, the incumbent will be responsible for the planning, design, scheduling, and optimization of mining operations (open pit and underground). The role plays a key part in strategic studies, due diligence, and asset optimization.

  • Analyze technical data (resources, reserves, models, costs)
  • Evaluate and optimize mine plans and schedules
  • Develop economically viable mining scenarios
  • Build long-term mine plans (cash flow, life of mine, NPV)
  • Integrate operational constraints into planning models
  • Prepare high-level technical reports
  • Conduct due diligence reviews
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary international teams
  • Support executive-level decision-making processes
  • Perform site visits as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience
  • Strong underground mining experience (mandatory)
  • International and multi-jurisdictional experience
  • Strong understanding of the mining lifecycle

Technical skills

  • Proficiency with tools such as Deswik, Whittle, Minemax, NPV Scheduler
  • Advanced mine optimization expertise
  • Mine planning (conceptual to detailed level)
  • Financial modeling and cost estimation
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
