Position Summary

The Financial Controller plays a central role in ensuring financial rigor and organizational performance. As a true business partner, the incumbent actively contributes to the reliability of financial information, continuous improvement initiatives. The Financial Controller embodies and promotes Athos’ core values through their professional practices and daily interactions.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the full accounting cycle, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data
Lead the monthly and year-end closing processes while meeting strict deadlines
Participate in the financial consolidation process
Support annual audits and collaborate with external auditors
Prepare and analyze monthly variance reports, providing actionable insights and recommendations
Prepare and maintain balance sheet continuity schedules, including:
    • Prepaid expenses
    • Accrued liabilities
    • Property, plant, and equipment
Work closely with the payroll function, including:
    • Reviewing payroll journal entries
    • Monitoring related balance sheet accounts
    • Conducting compensation analyses
Record intercompany transactions and allocations
Prepare sales tax returns (GST/QST) and act as the point of contact during tax audits
Contribute to the optimization of accounting and treasury processes in collaboration with finance leadership
Implement and strengthen internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
Participate in special projects and respond to ad hoc requests as needed

Profile We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA designation (mandatory)
  • 3 to 5 years of experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset
  • Continuous improvement orientation
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities
