I’m currently recruiting for a creative and driven Design Engineer to join a leading composite manufacturer based in Chippenham. You will join their permanent team, playing a key role in the development of innovative components, products, and technologies. This position focuses on the full design lifecycle—from concept through to detailed design and first article manufacture—ensuring high-quality, production-ready solutions.
It’s a fantastic opportunity to join a young, dynamic, and forward-thinking company where you’ll play a key role in shaping its future. The business also offers a 9-day fortnight, giving you a 3-day weekend every other week.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conceptualise, design, and develop components and products in line with the company’s technology roadmap
* Deliver end-to-end CAE activities, including CAD modelling, simulation, drafting, and engineering documentation
* Ensure designs are optimised for manufacturability, supporting New Product Introduction and scalable production
* Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver robust and innovative design solutions
* Analyse prototype and simulation data, producing clear technical reports and design improvements
* Contribute to the development of design processes, standards, and documentation in line with ISO9001
* Support continuous improvement and LEAN design initiatives
Requirements:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
* Experience in a design engineering environment
* Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
* Strong understanding of simulation and analysis (FEA)
* Ability to produce and interpret engineering drawings (GD&T)
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for production
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
