Job Summary and QualificationsPOSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall operation of the pediatric and neonatal areas of the respiratory department. Responsible for orienting, evaluating, and documenting competency of personnel who work in the neonatal intensive care unit and pediatrics. Establishes, maintains, and revises departmental policies and procedure to include departmental programs, quality control, performance improvement, and safety. Maintains departmental expenses and productivity as budgeted. Oversees respiratory care as delivered by the Respiratory Therapy department.  ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Prioritizes work appropriately and completes assignments in a timely fashion. Completes all required documentation with special attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrates competency in proper airway care including, as applicable: airway suctioning, oral and nasal airway care, cuff pressure monitoring, and extubation. Demonstrates competency in the performance of routine patient assessment and in the ability to correctly recognize and interpret respiratory dysfunction.
