For our Power Trading Desk, we are looking for a

Senior Nordic Power Analyst

The key purpose of the Senior Nordic Power Analyst is to advance Nordic power market analysis and model development for both short- and medium-term tenors. In addition, the role is responsible for forecasting Nordic power prices (SYS, EPADs, Capacities) with a focus on WA-Cal, generating trade ideas, contributing to trading strategies, and growing into analysis of bordering European Power Markets.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Reporting

• Create and improve fundamental and quantitative Nordic power market models
• Apply analysis, modelling, and forecasting techniques and produce deployable models
• Produce and communicate Nordic power price forecasts in a concise and timely manner
• Contribute to the Power Trading Desk PnL by continuously improving the accuracy and timeliness of forecasts as well as researching and suggesting trading strategies
• Collect and maintain important data and information for Nordic power markets
• Research market developments and news
• Communicate the point of view for Nordic power markets through presentations, reports and other forms of communication

Based on the candidate's professional background and the initial stage of employment, this role may include an allocation of risk capital. Such capital would be deployed in collaboration with at least one trader to pursue trading strategies. Therefore, we consider a proactive interest to engage and strengthen skills in risk management and control of such strategies as an asset.

Knowledge and Experience Required

• Strong experience in fundamental forecasting, ideally from a utility, analytics provider, or commodity trading company.
• Solid understanding of Nordic market fundamentals and hydro systems, with potential to expand expertise to the Alpine hydro countries and Spain.
• Comfortable with different optimization models.
• Strong programming skills: Python, strong data handling: SQL/PostgreSQL.
• Commercial mindset, detail-oriented, ability to work independently, ambitious.
• Risk exposure or prop trading strategist experience is a plus.
• Education: Master's degree or equivalent in a quantitative discipline with strong performance in mathematics.
• Language skills: proficiency in English is essential; Scandinavian language is a strong advantage.
