The Partner, Aviation Security - Geopolitical Analysis and Intelligence is responsible for the strategic advisory portfolio focused on global aviation security risks, geopolitical threat environments, and intelligence driven decision support. This role is responsible for shaping and delivering high impact security products by integrating geopolitical analysis, intelligence assessments, and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert in Corporate Security for briefings to leadership and across all Business Units and Functions
- Monitor, assess, and synthesize global geopolitical developments including political instability, armed conflict, state/non-state actor activity, etc.
- Evaluate second- and third-order impacts of geopolitical events on Air Canada operations, programs, supply chains, markets, partners, and customers
- Produce clear, decision-focused threat assessments, scenario analyses, and outlooks tailored to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
- Develop and maintain geopolitical risk indicators, dashboards, and early-warning frameworks aligned to the company’s risk appetite and strategic priorities
- Produce high-quality written products, including executive briefings, strategic memos, risk heat maps, and periodic geopolitical outlooks
- Coordinate input from a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Integrate geopolitical risk insights into enterprise risk management (ERM), strategic planning, program risk reviews, and investment decision processes
- Advise on network planning, mitigation strategies, contingency planning, procurement, and operational adjustments
- Conduct structured scenario planning, stress testing, and tabletop exercises to evaluate exposure under plausible future geopolitical conditions
- Track evolving geopolitical trends and provide proactive alerts when risk thresholds are approached or exceeded
- Apply AI and advanced analytics tools (e.g., large language models, predictive analytics, geospatial analysis, data fusion platforms) to enhance risk detection, trend analysis, and forecasting accuracy
- Integrate open-source intelligence (OSINT), structured data, and qualitative assessments using AI-assisted workflows while ensuring analytical rigor and bias mitigation
- Brief senior executives with clarity, confidence, and independence of judgment
- Contribute to internal standards, methodologies, and best practices for geopolitical and strategic risk analysis
Qualifications
- University degree in a in a relevant field such as International Relations, Security Studies, Intelligence, Political Science, Aviation Management, Public Policy, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications in aviation security, intelligence, or risk management (e.g., AVSEC, CPP, CISSP, CFE, or equivalent) are an asset
- Significant experience (typically 7+ years) in aviation security, intelligence analysis, geopolitical risk, national security, or related domains.
- Deep understanding of global threat environments, intelligence methodologies, and aviation security frameworks, including regulatory standards and international best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex multi stakeholder engagements
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities, with the ability to synthesize geopolitical, security, and operational information into actionable insights.
- Established industry presence, including thought leadership, stakeholder networks, or participation in high level aviation security or intelligence forums.
- Proven relationship development experience, including shaping service offerings
- Exceptional communication skills, with a proven track record advising senior decision makers and producing high quality intelligence products.
