Copello is pleased to be partnering with a major defence and aerospace organisation based near High Wycombe, recruiting for a Senior Safety Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.

The Senior Safety Engineer will join an established business unit responsible for airworthiness and safety.

The Safety Engineer will undertake product safety management activities and provide advice on product safety matters to project teams to ensure all safety requirements are correctly defined and meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and guiding safety management activities.
• Working closely with the Head of Airworthiness and Safety to maintain and monitor the safety management systems.
• Representing the safety department at customer reviews and internal design meetings.
• Overseeing safety documentation, including generation, review, and approvals.
• Supporting the Head of Airworthiness & Safety with the development and implementation of in-house training company-wide.
• Managing proactive safety reporting.

To be considered, the Senior Safety Engineer will have demonstrable experience within a similar role, ideally in the aerospace or defence industry.

Key experience and knowledge required include:

• ARP 4754 and ARP 4761 guidelines for safety standards.
• Safety engineering in design and working with cross-functional teams.
• Specific aviation safety standards, including Def Stan 00-056 and Mil Std 882.
• Regulatory compliance and managing programmes in line with regulatory responsibilities.
• Product safety management, particularly for complex systems.

This position is based near High Wycombe and offers a flexible working pattern.

Security clearance (UKSC) is an essential requirement for the Safety Engineer.
