POSITION DESCRIPTION:

St. Joseph's Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for a part-time on-call position, 28 hours per week, day, evening, or night shifts (7 a.m.-3 p.m., 3 p.m.-11 p.m., or 11 p.m.-7 a.m.), and one weekend out of two.

ROLE AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administer medication according to safety principles and the code of ethics
• Collaborate in maintaining a bond of trust with the families or relatives of residents as well as with the various stakeholders (CLSC, CSSS, etc.)
• Contribute to the adjustment of the residents' intervention plan through their observations
• Distribute the medication in the form of a blister cup and provide some invasive care, as needed and with the required mandatory training
• Ensure good communication as well as medical follow-ups with the actors concerned
• Promote and advocate proactive care for residents
• Record notes in the residents' files in accordance with the requirements of the Ordre des Infirmiers et Infirmières auxiliaires du Québec (OIIAQ) and keep them rigorously updated
• Respond to all emergency situations

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Collect degree in nursing (DEC) or a proffesional studies dimploma (DEP) in health care assistance, nursing
• Member of the OIIAQ
• PDSB training
• Up to date CPR / AED training certificates
• A minimum of 2 to 3 years experience
