Golfclubs4Cash (GC4C) is seeking an experienced, commercially-minded Lead Developer to take ownership of the development and technical evolution of our Shopify-based eCommerce platform.
This is a pivotal role within the business, combining hands-on technical leadership with strategic influence. You will shape how our platform evolves, drive engineering standards, and ensure our technology enables scalable growth, performance, and innovation.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will translate business ambition into robust technical solutions, while playing a key role in defining and delivering our eCommerce strategy. You will also act as a trusted advisor at senior level, contributing to decision-making and presenting platform strategy and performance to the Board.

*Key Responsibilities*
*Engineering Leadership & Delivery Excellence*
* Lead, mentor, and inspire a small development team, fostering a high-performance and accountable engineering culture
* Own and continuously improve development standards, ensuring consistency, quality, and long-term maintainability
* Introduce and embed effective ways of working to improve delivery, including backlog management, prioritisation, and release planning
* Manage and prioritise the development backlog in line with business needs and commercial objectives
* Oversee releases and platform changes, ensuring stability, minimal disruption, and robust testing practices
*Technical Ownership & Platform Architecture*
* Own the technical design and ongoing evolution of the Shopify platform
* Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient solutions
* Lead the integration of key systems including payments, logistics, ERP, and CRM platforms
* Identify and reduce technical debt, balancing short-term delivery with long-term sustainability
* Improve development tooling, automation, and deployment practices
*eCommerce Platform Performance & Growth*
* Drive continuous improvements in platform performance, reliability, and resilience
* Enhance the end-to-end customer experience, supporting conversion and revenue growth
* Partner with the business to support trading activity through effective and timely development
* Ensure the platform is scalable and adaptable to support future growth and new initiatives
*Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy & Influence*
* Partner with senior stakeholders to understand business goals and translate them into scalable technical solutions
* Lead the development and execution of the organisation’s eCommerce strategy, aligning technology with commercial objectives
* Present platform strategy, performance insights, and key initiatives to the Board, providing clear, data-driven recommendations
* Act as a trusted advisor, clearly articulating technical options, trade-offs, and risks to non-technical stakeholders
* Contribute to the long-term platform and technology roadmap, balancing innovation with stability and delivery

*Location & Working Pattern*
This is a hybrid role with a flexible approach to onsite working. There is an expectation of *regular onsite presence* to support collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and key activities. The role can be based from any of our locations: *Edinburgh, Milton Keynes, Southampton, or Warrington*.
