This role is ideal for a student who enjoys software development, is curious about large-scale computing, and wants hands-on experience enabling real-world research in areas such as computational science, AI/ML, bioinformatics, and data analytics.# **Job Description****Primary Duties & Responsibilities:*** Develop, test, and maintain tools, scripts, and services that support research workflows on the HPC cluster (e.g., job submission helpers, workflow automation, monitoring tools).* Contribute to internal web applications, command-line tools, or APIs that simplify HPC usage for researchers.* Assist with integrating new research applications and libraries into the cluster environment.* Follow software engineering best practices including version control, code reviews, issue tracking, and testing.* Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.* Help identify and implement improvements to development processes and tooling.* Configure, build, and test scientific software, libraries, and containerized applications (e.g., Singularity/Apptainer, Docker) for use on the cluster.* Contribute to performance testing and benchmarking of applications, analyzing results and suggesting improvements.* Support efforts to improve usability, reliability, and automation within the HPC software stack.**Working Conditions:**Job Location/Working Conditions* Normal office environmentPhysical Effort* Typically sitting at a desk or table* Repetitive wrist, hand or finger movementEquipment* Office equipmentThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification.
