As a Physical Therapy Assistant with Avera Health, you will collaborate closely with physical therapists, nurses, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to support coordinated, patient-centered care. Your responsibilities will include observing and documenting patient responses to treatment, reporting clinical changes to the supervising therapist, and contributing to ongoing adjustments in the plan of care. You will provide clear instructions and education to patients and their families regarding home exercise programs, safety techniques, and strategies to support recovery and independence.
You will be expected to maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic medical record, adhering to Avera Health standards and regulatory requirements. You will help maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment, assist with equipment setup and maintenance, and follow all infection prevention and safety protocols. You will actively support discharge planning by communicating functional status and progress to the care team.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program, holds or is eligible for state licensure, and maintains current BLS/CPR certification. Strong interpersonal communication skills, reliable clinical judgment within the PTA scope of practice, and the ability to follow established treatment plans are essential. Comfort working in a fast-paced clinical environment, the ability to manage time effectively, and a commitment to patient safety and high-quality care are key to success in this role at Avera Health.
