Mechanical Design Engineer II

In this role, you will use mechanical design expertise on complex components for aerospace gas turbine engines and power generation systems. This position supports the next generation of military and commercial platforms. Your primary functions are to design complex components, create 3D CAD models, create 2D drawings, track drawing changes in Teamcenter, prepare and deliver design reviews, and document work for internal records and for regulatory & customer consumption. The design tools are Siemens NX and Teamcenter. Interacting closely with project managers and analytical teams is vital to meeting project deliverables and milestones. Listen to internal customers’ needs and support the organization in reducing cycle time and improving quality of deliverables.
You will report directly to our Mechanical Design Engineering Manager and will work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a hybrid work schedule. For the first 90 days, new hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite Monday through Friday.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical design engineering.
Uses broad knowledge of engineering discipline, processes, and tools to complete different project subtasks.
Uses 3D/2D CAD software to prepare design and engineering drawings.
May interact with internal and external customers and team members to facilitate the completion of products to customer specifications.
Responsible for ensuring subtasks are completed on time and within the allocated budget.
Update or modify working methods in own role based upon defined procedures.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define mechanical requirements and specifications.
Design and develop mechanical systems and components using CAD software and other design tools.
Perform mechanical analysis and simulations to ensure product performance and reliability.
Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
1–2 years’ experience in mechanical design utilizing CAD software.
Experience in turbomachinery or related aerospace field.

Demonstrated strong mechanical inclination, aptitude, and desire to create.
Effective communication (oral & written).
Effective interpersonal and team skills to resolve problems and improve engineering‑manufacturing integration.
Knowledge of ASME Y14.5M Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
Knowledge in fabrication processes, casting, machining, sheet metal, tooling, welding and brazing.
