As a Physical Therapy Assistant at Avera Health, you will carry out prescribed therapeutic exercises and functional activities, instruct patients and families in home exercise programs, and monitor patient responses to treatment, reporting progress and concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist. You will help prepare patients and treatment areas, utilize therapy equipment safely, and ensure that all care is delivered in alignment with established clinical protocols and regulatory standards. Accurate and timely documentation of treatments, patient responses, and education provided will be an essential part of your daily responsibilities.
You will collaborate closely with Physical Therapists, nurses, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to support coordinated, patient-centered care. Consistent with Avera Health’s culture of compassion, hospitality, and stewardship, you will treat all patients, families, and colleagues with respect and dignity, maintaining a calm and supportive presence in a fast-paced clinical environment. You will also play a role in educating patients and caregivers about safe mobility techniques, use of assistive devices, and strategies to support recovery at home.

A typical candidate will have completed an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program, hold or be eligible for state licensure, and maintain current Basic Life Support/CPR certification. Prior experience in an outpatient, inpatient, or rehab setting is preferred, but new graduates with a commitment to Avera Health’s mission and values are encouraged to apply.
