As a Respiratory Therapist with LifeBridge Health, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care interventions for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. You will perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gases and pulmonary function assessments, administer and manage oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and bronchial hygiene therapies, and initiate, monitor, and adjust invasive and non‑invasive mechanical ventilation in collaboration with physicians. You will respond to respiratory emergencies, participate in rapid response and code teams, and follow established protocols to stabilize and support patients.
You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to develop and adjust individualized care plans, communicate changes in patient status, and ensure seamless transitions of care. A strong focus on patient and family education is expected, including teaching proper inhaler and device techniques, home oxygen and equipment use, and strategies to manage chronic respiratory conditions. You will also support community‑focused initiatives that align with LifeBridge Health’s mission to improve health and promote well‑being in diverse communities.
The position requires meticulous documentation of assessments, interventions, patient responses, and equipment parameters in the electronic health record, adherence to departmental policies and evidence‑based clinical standards, and consistent compliance with infection prevention and patient safety practices. You will be expected to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain a wide range of respiratory therapy equipment, including ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP devices, oxygen delivery systems, nebulizers, and suction equipment, ensuring safe and effective use at all times.
LifeBridge Health’s culture emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will actively participate in performance improvement initiatives, contribute to protocol development and implementation, and support the introduction of new technologies and therapies that enhance patient outcomes. You will have opportunities for professional development through in‑service education, skills training, certification support, and potential involvement in teaching or precepting students and new team members.
Success in this role requires strong critical thinking and clinical judgment, the ability to remain calm and effective in high‑acuity and emergency situations, and excellent communication skills when working with patients, families, and colleagues from varied backgrounds. You should be comfortable working in a fast‑paced hospital environment that may include intensive care units, emergency departments, medical‑surgical floors, and specialty care areas, with rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to provide 24/7 coverage.
Working at LifeBridge Health offers opportunities for career advancement and growth within a large, mission‑driven healthcare system. You will be part of a compassionate team committed to delivering outstanding patient‑centered respiratory care while supporting the health of the broader community. Candidates should bring a strong commitment to safety, quality, cultural sensitivity, and lifelong learning in respiratory care practice.
