A well-established engineering business in Bolton is looking to add a practical, detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to its team.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll see your designs move from concept through to fabrication and final build, with all equipment designed and manufactured on site.
You’ll be part of a small, focused design team, working in a business that places real emphasis on quality and engineering standards.
It’s an ideal opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoys being close to the production process, where your input directly influences how machinery is built and performs.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be involved in the full design process, from concept through to manufacture.
Key responsibilities include:
* Producing accurate 2D drawings and 3D models
* Creating general arrangement drawings and detailed manufacturing drawings
* Carrying out design calculations to support engineering decisions
* Ensuring the feasibility, functionality, and manufacturability of all designs
* Applying tolerances and engineering best practices to all drawings
* Designing equipment that is built and assembled on site
* Producing detailed drawings of component parts for fabrication
* Working closely with production and fabrication teams
What We’re Looking For
The ideal Mechanical Design Engineer will have a strong background in mechanical engineering design and a "hands-on" approach to problem-solving.
You should have:
* Proven experience with 2D AutoCAD and either SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
* A solid understanding of sheet metal design and fabrication processes.
* Ability to produce manufacturing-ready drawings with a high attention to detail.
* Commutable to the Bolton office for this permanent, office-based position.
* Knowledge of design calculations and tolerances
