About Ormston School

Opened in September 2024, Ormston School provides a safe and supportive environment for pupils aged 5 to 18. Our mission is to create a learning atmosphere where young people can thrive, feel secure, and leave school equipped with the experiences and outcomes necessary to contribute positively to their communities.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a SEND Teacher, you will:

  • Teach allocated areas of the Secondary curriculum to small bespoke class groups of up to 6 pupils, supported by a Teaching Assistant.
  • Plan, prepare, and present engaging lessons that cater to the diverse needs of your students.
  • Assess, monitor, record, and report on the learning needs, progress, and achievements of your pupils.
  • Adapt your teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of each student.
  • Set high standards that inspire, motivate, and challenge your pupils.
  • Participate in preparing learners for external tests and assessments.
  • Teach across the KS3/KS4 Curriculum and adapt learning for students with SEND.
What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree.
  • Successful teaching experience, particularly in delivering qualifications up to GCSE.
  • Experience in Humanities, PE, or vocational subject areas is preferred.
  • A solid understanding of the National Curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
  • The ability to adapt your teaching to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with students.
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding practices.
  • Good ICT skills, especially in using technology to enhance learning.
