Description Diversified Systems is searching for an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator who will drive high‑caliber database design, solution delivery, and support in a fast‑paced and collaborative environment and manage the MS SQL Server environments including the DB VM servers.
Responsibilities
Work with other database administrators across different agencies that manage multiple database platforms, including but not limited to Azure Cloud and Oracle databases.
Ensure best practices in database planning, design, configuration, performance, capacity planning, and growth to provide highly reliable and high‑performing SQL databases.
Work with DBAITM1 to ensure team goals and metrics are met.
Provide DBA support for distributed servers in a multi‑datacenter environment.
Monitor daily activities and performance of a complex SQL environment, analyze technical problems, recommend adjustments, and implement approved solutions using established tools and techniques.
Provide technical assistance to application development teams and coworkers regarding SQL design and programming.
Configure SQL services including security, JDBC, and clusters.
Plan, install, and coordinate SQL Server releases, migrations, upgrades, and maintenance activities, including building new environments to support applications.
Coordinate with network, IIS, and storage teams to support SQL Server‑based configurations.
Develop technical documentation, project plans, and tasks, and interact with customers on proposed solutions.
Provide non‑production and production support for deploying code and assist with troubleshooting and resolving application issues.
Support DevOps tools including Ansible, Jenkins, Nexis, Maven, Bitbucket, Kony Mobile, and Nginx.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management based on project and application needs.
Provide Tier III technical support and develop project plans with project managers or recommend approaches by defining tasks.
Lead meetings related to database design, implementation, operation, and ongoing maintenance.
Design and plan cluster node hardware selections and recommendations, configure and set up cluster nodes, establish interconnects, configure cluster‑aware storage, and install cluster and database management system software on all nodes.
Monitor load balancing and tune cluster parameters for high performance, including configuring standby servers.
Configure and implement log shipping and replication solutions.
Provide technical leadership that promotes database innovation and champions automation initiatives.
Support strategic planning for database architecture, resource management, and capacity planning and growth.
Ensure best practices in database planning, design, configuration, performance, and resilience.
Evaluate and propose database design and process improvements to achieve performance and cost optimization.
Identify inefficiencies in current database designs and oversee implementation of improved solutions.
Plan and implement capacity and resource expansions to ensure database scalability.
Implement effective risk management controls and ensure adherence to all compliance–related requirements including exceptions, waivers, risks, technical compliance, and access control.
Lead incident resolution efforts and engage appropriate resources to complete corrective actions as quickly as possible.
Conduct research and provide recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards to support procurement and development efforts.
Support virtualized infrastructure running Unix, Linux, and AIX operating systems.
Modify storage structures to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
Regularly update database security protocols and apply patching.
Provide leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.
Work with project management teams to support timely and effective client communications regarding deployments and upgrades.
Requirements
6 years experience supporting DevOps tools including Ansible, Jenkins, Nexis, Maven, Bitbucket, Kony Mobile, and Nginx. Required.
6 years experience configuring SQL services including security, JDBC, and clusters, as well as planning, installing, and coordinating SQL Server releases, migrations, upgrades, and maintenance. Required.
6 years experience managing SQL databases independently in both on‑premises and cloud environments. Required.
6 years experience providing DBA support for distributed servers in a multi‑datacenter environment. Required.
6 years experience working with other database administrators across different agencies supporting multiple database platforms, including Azure Cloud and Oracle. Required.
