Job Responsibilities Creating the future of mobility will include developing instrument panels and consoles with next‑generation displays and electronics. Design engineers balance vehicle and occupant performance requirements while creating highly styled instrument panels and consoles—the major systems the customer sees and touches daily. Responsibilities include design, development, analysis, implementation, and validation of complex instrument panel and console subsystems and supporting vendor and cross‑functional teams.
Design, development, analysis, implementation, and validation of the complex instrument panel and console subsystems.
Perform engineering design evaluations and concept development across vehicle programs.
Utilize engineering tools (DFMEA, ICDs, PFMEA) and leverage CAE groups including Safety Performance to develop the best system solution.
Assess design-to-manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, vibration welding, vacuum forming, foam‑in‑place, wrapping).
Package components, manage CAD development through suppliers or designers, and collaborate with other systems within the vehicle (thermal, electrical, body, chassis, restraints, etc.). Ensure best practices are applied in the CAD and seek support when best practice is not met; schedule and lead peer reviews.
