We are mid-engagement on a $2M+ data modernization program for a top-tier insurance carrier. The mission: transform how 200+ third-party data partners deliver claims data into a modern Snowflake + Azure lakehouse — cutting processing time from months to hours.
This is not a staff aug position. You will be the primary engineer and client-facing technical voice, supported by a data engineer and business analyst on day one, with the team expanding as the platform proves out.
What youll be doing:
You and your supporting engineer will design and build 4 defined architecture patterns using synthetic data in a TPI-managed environment before transferring to the clients cloud tenant. Youll be running live demos within days of starting, locked in daily with client stakeholders and our engagement success manager, and expected to move fast without cutting corners. Within the first 100 days youll complete 35+ client-facing architecture reviews. By Day 200 the expectation is 8+ AI use cases proved in production and 4 agentic AI flows live.
The core work is building a cleaner, more raw version of overly processed third-party data — stripping outdated logic, defining what "clean" means with the business, and building what works on top of it quickly for users and downstream applications.
You need to bring:
Snowflake architecture and Snowpark (Python/Scala) — production pipelines, not demos
dbt Core: modeling, testing, incremental builds, source freshness
Expert SQL and event-driven ingestion patterns (Snowpipe or equivalent)
5+ years in data engineering, 2+ in a technical lead capacity
Consulting or client-facing delivery experience — youve defended technical decisions in a room and managed stakeholder expectations under pressure
What this engagement offers:
The architecture work leads directly into AI — Snowflake Cortex, Azure AI Foundry, etc. As PoCs prove out, the team expands into intelligent application development, broader data engineering, and deeper production AI. The right person in this role helps shape all three.
Rate: Up to $125/hr ($260,000/yr equivalent at 2,080 hours)
Location: Hybrid — St. Louis, MO with regular on-site presence required
Start: Immediate — 2–4 week paid transition with billing pause on prior roles
