Senior Professional Electrical Engineer

• Lead design delivery for infrastructure projects design teams, acting as the lead designer within a multidisciplinary project team from feasibility stage through detailed design.
  
• Provide specialist electrical engineering guidance on design, optimisation, constructability, interfaces and cost/schedule decisions.
  
• Lead engagement with internal and external stakeholders to progress projects through all lifecycle stages and governance gates – from concept stage through to construction.
  
• Manage engineering work packages, including scoping, tendering, evaluations, contract award support and construction‑phase input.
  
• Ensure design deliverables meet required programme, quality and technical standards.
  
• Lead design reviews, ensuring compliance with ESB standards, contract requirements, constructability and safety‑in‑design obligations.
  
• Mentor junior engineers and promote a high‑performing, knowledge‑sharing design culture.
  
• Promote and actively participate in maintaining a strong safety culture, ensuring safety is embedded in design and throughout project delivery.
  

• 
  
• Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent.
  
• Minimum 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
  
• High level of specialist expertise and strong technical capability in electrical engineering.
  
• Proven ability to manage significant projects or key aspects of projects.
  
• Strong commercial and project coordination skills.
  
• Strong safety awareness and communication skills.
  
• Valid driver's license for ROI, access to a car, and flexibility to travel nationwide.
  
• Chartered status or working towards it in a recognised professional institution.
  
• Experience in utility projects.
  
• Familiarity with FIDIC Conditions of Contractor similar.
  
• Experience in cable rating software, such as CYMCAP.
  
• Experience in performing the role of designer and/or PSDP on projects.
  

This position will be based in ESB E&MP’s Offices in Dublin.
