Structural Engineer

Location: Hillsborough, Co. Down, Northern Ireland.

Salary: £36, - £45, plus benefits.

A triple‑office, international dedicated Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy based in Hillsborough, Northern Ireland, is looking for a Structural Engineer with at least 5+ years’ experience to join a strong design team. The company, founded many years ago, has grown to over 50 staff in its Head Office just 20 km outside Belfast and has an excellent reputation locally and in England. The project portfolio ranges from multi‑storey residential schemes to heritage projects and heavy civils such as rail and tunnelling. The firm also houses Northern Ireland’s sole IStructE exam marker and mentors engineers pursuing chartership.

• Project Design
  
• Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established procedures.
  
• Liaise with clients and professionals including architects and contractors.
  
• Develop and solve design problems.
  
• Identify discrepancies in results.
  
• Provide guidance to entry‑level engineers.
  
• Responsible for elements of project delivery.
  
• Responsible for elements of project quality assurance.
  
• Contribute to company objectives by achieving individual KPIs set by the line manager.

• Minimum 2:1 degree in related engineering or associated technical degree.
  
• Minimum 5+ years relevant experience in a consultancy environment.
  
• Experience writing engineering reports.
  
• Conducting technical and feasibility studies, including site investigations.
  
• Proficiency with specific software for detailed design.
  
• Ability to undertake and understand complex calculations.
  
• Knowledge of legal requirements.
  
• Experience with project health and safety requirements.
  
• Experience with sustainability and environmental impact of projects.
  
• Experience with broader project issues.
  

A salary of £36, - £45 (depending on experience) is available for the right candidate.
