Location: Hybrid - Manhattan, NY Salary: $92,000 - $102,000 We are seeking a Systems Administrator who will manage and support Wintel-based physical and virtual servers, as well as storage infrastructure for our client. This role involves ensuring high availability, performance optimization, and adherence to change management and disaster recovery processes, as well as close collaboration with cross-functional teams, vendors, and support groups to resolve issues and maintain system stability. The ideal candidate will be responsible for system design, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting across enterprise environments. This includes developing documentation, supporting 24x7 operations, and contributing to infrastructure planning and improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Plan, design, install, configure, secure, maintain, and support all Wintel-based physical/virtual servers and storage infrastructure Analyze and monitor server resource utilization to ensure optimum performance and alleviate bottlenecks Create, test, implement, and maintain standard images for servers Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures; coordinate archive schedules with Data Protection Services Engineers Ensure that all changes to the environment adhere to Change Management policies and procedures Maintain disaster recovery configurations and documentation in support of the virtualization infrastructure Work closely with various teams and other System Administrators to resolve reported issues Evaluate new systems and application requirements related to server and storage needs Create and maintain Developed Systems Solutions Architecture Diagrams using MS Visio Develop comprehensive project plans for Wintel/Storage projects Develop timelines and work breakdown structures Setup and monitor system alerts to provide 24x7 support and high availability Liaise with vendors to troubleshoot technical issues Follow communications protocol for system failures/outages and file incident reports Escalate major hardware/software problems to senior IT staff Respond to Service Desk tickets for technical support ensuring timely follow up and resolution Prepare system configurations and management/support documentation Available to work after hours and weekends as needed
Mandatory Qualifications
Associates degree or combination of experience and education 5+ years of proven experience as a Systems Administrator in planning, designing, configuring, and managing VMware virtual servers and storage infrastructure VMware certification (e.g., VMware Certified Technical Associate – Data Center) or higher Extensive knowledge of virtualization technologies (not limited to VMware) Extensive knowledge of high-availability environments running on virtualized infrastructure Extensive knowledge of server and storage hardware Experience with hardware from vendors such as HP and Cisco Working experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2019/2022, VMware vSphere, Unix/Linux, NetApp, Windows file system and directory management, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, SFTP, security diagnostics tools, PAM, PowerShell scripting Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills; ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently or in a team and to communicate with different levels of the organization
