Salary: $16.90 or $17.50 /hr

Job Overview

This positionis all aboutcreating the ultimateguest experienceat the San Diego County Fair.OurCustomer CareTeam(previously known as Guest Services representatives and Ambassadors)ismade up oftrue TeamPlayers people whowork well with others, enjoy solving problems,andloveinteractingwith people.

Our Team Playershelp us greet visitors, answer questions, provide directions, addressguestconcerns,maintainlostand founditems, and move people safely through the biggest and best summer event in San Diego County.At Information Booths,insidethe Guest Services Office, at concertsand performances, intheelevators, oramongthe crowds throughout the Del Mar Fairgrounds, our Customer CareTeamworks hard toensureour guests have a terrific time and feel comfortable, safe, and well-informed during their days and nights at the Fair.


Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Greeting guests with a friendly smile, awarmwelcomeandpositiveattitude.
  • Providingprompt and courteous service by evaluating guests needs through empathy, listening, specific questioning, and effectivelyresolvingmatters throughappropriate action, service, or solution.
  • Interactingwith guests in person, on the phone, or via email and fellow Fair employees (often through radios)toresolve issues and provideaccurateinformation, directions,andassistance.
  • Keeping abreast of information and programming at the Fair to be able to answer questions and concerns withtimelyandknowledgeableresponses.
  • Identifyingandmaintaininglost and found items.
  • Assistingguests with mobility or sensory needs.
  • Providingother related duties as assigned, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience inacustomer servicerole.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service,and communication skills.
  • Ability to workproficientlywith phones, computers, tablets, and basic technology such as email, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and website navigation.
  • Ability to learn information quickly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills,conflict management and de-escalation skills, andsound judgment.
  • Ability to workboth independently and cooperatively in a group setting.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environmentwith changing situations and demands.
  • Willingness to work long hours,nights, and weekends.
  • Punctuality, reliability,flexibility,anddependability.
  • An understanding of and commitment to our FAIRS Values of Fun, A+ Quality, Integrity, Respect, and Service.

Working Conditions:

  • MostTeam Players will workprimarilyoutdoors, although others willwork indoors or inside covered areas.
  • May be exposed to weather conditions.
  • Job duties require sitting, standing, and/or walking forlong periods, including in large crowds.
  • Work involves some loud noises, such asduring concerts,shows, inthe carnivalareas, and in large crowds.
  • Work requires a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
