Maximus is looking to hire a Software Engineer/Applications Programmer 1. We are seeking a technical, hands-on professional to serve as a bridge between our platform engineers and the scientific research community. Your primary mission will be to empower researchers by helping them effectively utilize the Energy Data Exchange (EDX) platform and its APIs. The Energy Data Exchange (EDX) is the Department of Energy (DOE) offices of Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy (HGEO) and Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation (CMEI) virtual platform for public curation of HGEO & CMEI R&D data and tools. Your support will extend beyond simple platform assistance; you will guide researchers on a journey from basic interaction to potentially containerizing and hosting their own scientific applications within our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment. You will be their dedicated technical partner, helping them integrate their work with our infrastructure. This role is remote and requires a Public Trust security clearance. Maximus TCS (Technology and Consulting Services) Internal Job Profile Code: TCS199, T1, Band 4 Build and maintain simple UI components using JavaScript frameworks. - Perform simple CRUD operations within relational database systems. - Run applications locally using containerization tools and execute pre-defined database scripts. - Participate in Agile ceremonies and the process of picking up and completing assigned tickets. Due to contract requirements candidates must be U.S. Citizens. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Basic understanding of JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Proficiency in writing clean, semantic HTML5 and CSS3 to implement provided design mockups. - Familiarity with DOM manipulation and handling basic user events within a web application. - Ability to write and maintain server-side logic using a programming language (e.g., Python, Node.js, Java). - Familiarity with the basic structure of RESTful APIs and how to handle
requests (e.g., Basic knowledge of relational database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and how to perform simple CRUD operations. - Basic proficiency with Git for personal workflow, including cloning, committing, and pushing code (e.g., Basic debugging skills to identify syntax errors and simple logic bugs in a local environment. Knowledge of browser developer tools to inspect elements and troubleshoot basic styling issues. - Understanding of how to use environment variables and configuration files to manage application settings. - Competence in following existing coding standards and documentation to implement small-scale features. - Familiarity with using an Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) tool to perform basic data retrieval and updates. - Understanding of primary keys, foreign keys, and the general purpose of database tables. - Ability to run pre-defined database scripts and migrations in a development environment. - Awareness of cloud-based AI services and how they can be accessed through standard API calls. - General understanding of the purpose of Large Language Models (LLMs) in a software context. - Ability to follow documentation to implement basic API integrations for AI-driven features. - Understanding of how to run applications locally using containerization tools (e.g., Experience writing basic unit tests to verify the correctness of individual functions or components. - Familiarity with Agile ceremonies and the process of picking up and completing assigned tickets. #TCS199, T1, Band 4 We evaluate qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information and other legally protected characteristics.
