SwimWorks Albuquerque is seeking an experienced and motivated *Lead Swim Instructor* to support swim instruction, instructor training, and daily pool operations. This leadership role combines *in-water teaching with instructor development and deck leadership*, helping ensure our lessons are safe, consistent, and engaging for swimmers of all ages.
The Lead Swim Instructor works closely with the Aquatics Manager to mentor instructors, maintain high instructional standards, and support the overall success of our swim program.
Schedule & Availability
* Full-time hourly position
* Pay range: $18–$20 per hour depending on experience
* Must be available for:
* *At least one weekend day 7:00am-4:00pm*
* *Afternoon and evening shifts during the week 12:00pm-8:30pm*
* Includes *3–4 regular in-water teaching shifts per week* plus leadership and training responsibilities
Responsibilities
* Teach swim lessons for swimmers of all ages and levels
* Train and mentor new swim instructors
* Conduct instructor observations and provide coaching and feedback
* Help maintain consistency with the SwimWorks swim curriculum
* Support monthly staff trainings and in-service meetings
* Assist with deck supervision and safety oversight
* Help maintain pool cleanliness, organization, and equipment readiness
* Track instructor training progress and maintain documentation
* Collaborate with the Aquatics Manager on staff development and hiring
Qualifications
*Required*
* Minimum *3 years swim instruction experience* (infants through adults)
* Strong knowledge of swim lesson structure and water safety
* Ability to coach and mentor swim instructors
* Competitive swimming background with strong technical swim knowledge
*Preferred*
* Competitive swim coaching experience
* Previous leadership or instructor trainer experience in an aquatic environment
