JOB DESCRIPTION Nestled on the Central California Coast, Adventist Health Sierra Vista has been providing care to our community since 1959. Our 162-bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and county designated trauma center. San Luis Obispo offers the excitement of a lively community while being a fifteen-minute drive from the serenity of Avila Beach, known for their natural hot springs, and Pismo Beach, known for their sand dunes and eucalyptus trees. Featuring a charming downtown, comfortable coastal weather, idyllic views, and an active lifestyle San Luis Obispo offers much to be had.
Job Summary:
Provides diagnostic, therapeutic and consultative services to patients with communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders. Adheres to state and federal regulatory license, certification and accrediting requirement guidelines. Serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary care team. This position is represented by SEIU.
Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience:
  • Master's Degree: Required
  • Two years' speech language pathology experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Speech Pathologist licensure in the state of practice: Required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
  • American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC): Preferred
Essential Functions:
  • Reviews patient information before evaluations and during course of treatment.
  • Conducts and documents comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Assists in data collection of patient outcomes.
  • Instructs and directs support staff, as outlined in national and state Practice Acts.
  • Supervises assistants and support staff.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
