In this position... The
Software Engineering Manager (Digital)
role oversees design and delivery of a global, complex micro‑service ecosystem. They will support a delivery team responsible for the systems, technology, quality, and delivery of digital capabilities. Scope includes headless digital ordering capabilities supporting omnichannel (Ford.com eCommerce, Mobile, In‑Vehicle) order management for global markets.
What You’ll Do
Engineering leadership role overseeing design and delivery of a global, complex micro‑service ecosystem.
Support a delivery team responsible for the systems, technology, quality, and delivery of digital capabilities, including headless digital ordering and omnichannel order management.
Build and deliver a modern, greenfield open‑stack platform based on MACH architecture principles.
Model modern software engineering practices (TDD, BDD, CI/CD, Shift‑left, 12‑factor apps, API‑first design) to support integration with Ford products and external cloud services.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to rationalize technologies, leverage current offerings, and identify gaps/opportunities.
Implement a talent system to assess team capabilities and promote practices for a world‑class engineering team.
Strategize with senior leaders across Ford’s engineering organization to make significant, measurable global impact through iterative, agile, user‑centric approaches.
Provide thought leadership on development, structure, and technology, including strategic planning, goal setting, process development, budgeting, and professional development opportunities.
Transform teams from a project mindset to a product mindset.
Work with global team members in India, the US, and/or Europe.
Lead up to two product lines across eCommerce platforms.
Help business partners understand the iterative development approach, focusing on delivering an MVP and releases through prudent prioritization.
Initial team will include around 10 associates and external partner capacity.
You’ll Have
Conversant in digital e‑commerce processes and technologies.
Experience evolving agile software delivery practices and processes.
Experience/awareness of microservices, cloud‑native, event‑driven architecture, APIs, domain‑driven design, GCP Hosting, serverless, Kubernetes, Docker.
Experience progressing STLC or QA practices and processes.
Experience advancing DevOps practices and processes.
Experience collaborating with other technical domain experts such as cloud or security.
Hands‑on AI engineering or use experience.
Strong change management experience.

Ability to work effectively in a remote/virtual setting with global team members.
Proven facilitation skills to drive discussion among diverse perspectives and reach decisions.
Proven ability to work closely with executive leadership teams.
Effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams across the organization.

This position is Leadership Level 6 and ranges from $132,800 – $250,800. Final salary will be set within the applicable range based on skills, experience, job scope, responsibilities, and market value.
