Staff Software Engineer

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join a rapidly scaling SaaS FinTech organisation expanding its engineering presence in Cork. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role where you will play a key part in shaping architecture, ensuring platform reliability, and influencing engineering standards across multiple teams.

You will act as a senior technical authority in the region, with clear ownership of system integrity, production behaviour, and operational excellence, while remaining close to the code and technical decision‑making.

• Provide hands‑on technical leadership across multiple engineering teams
  
• Own the stability, scalability, and production health of regional systems
  
• Design and evolve distributed system architecture supporting a growing SaaS platform
  
• Act as a technical escalation point for complex production and performance issues
  
• Drive engineering best practices around observability, resilience, and reliability
  
• Mentor senior and mid‑level engineers and help grow technical capability locally
  
• Partner with Product, SRE, and Architecture teams to deliver scalable solutions
  
• Lead technical initiatives such as platform modernisation, performance optimisation, and cloud adoption
  
• Contribute to critical code paths and architectural components where needed
  

You will work within a modern distributed SaaS environment including:

• 
  
• Operational Practices: CI/CD, monitoring, observability, incident management
  

• 
  
• Extensive experience in software engineering with strong C#/.NET expertise
  
• Experience designing and operating high‑scale distributed systems
  
• Proven technical leadership experience (Staff Engineer / Principal Engineer / Tech Lead level)
  
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
  
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
  
• Experience working with event‑driven or actor‑based systems (Akka.NET a strong advantage)
  
• Deep understanding of production operations, reliability engineering, and system performance
  
• Experience influencing technical direction across multiple teams
  
• Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills in complex production environments

• Experience in FinTech or regulated environments
  
• Experience scaling SaaS platforms
  
• Experience with Elasticsearch or similar search platforms
  
• Experience with resilience patterns xcfaprz and fault‑tolerant design
  
• Background in SRE or platform engineering practices
