About the Opportunity
A leading international contractor based in Dublin is seeking an experienced Mechanical Contracts Manager to join their construction project delivery team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on large‑scale Data Centre construction projects, pharmaceutical / life sciences projects, and industrial construction projects across Ireland and Europe.
You will be responsible for the delivery of mechanical building services packages, including HVAC systems, mechanical piping, plant installation, and critical mechanical infrastructure, within fast‑track, high‑value construction environments.
The Role – Mechanical Contracts Manager (Construction & Data Centres)
As a Mechanical Contracts Manager in Dublin, you will take full responsibility for the management and delivery of mechanical construction packages from pre‑construction and procurement through installation, commissioning, and project handover.
You will work closely with senior management, planners, quantity surveyors, engineers, Construction Managers, Site Supervisors, subcontractors, and client representatives to deliver mechanical services installations on major construction projects.
Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Contracts Manager
- Lead the delivery of mechanical contracts on data centre construction, pharmaceutical projects, and large‑scale commercial construction projects, including HVAC systems, mechanical piping, plant rooms, and building services installations.
- Manage full project lifecycle including pre‑construction planning, procurement, subcontractor management, installation, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems.
- Coordinate mechanical works with electrical (M&E) systems and CSA (civil, structural, architectural) construction activities to ensure seamless integration of building services.
- Oversee mechanical subcontractors, suppliers, and installation teams, ensuring compliance with construction programmes, quality standards, and project specifications.
- Review and approve technical submittals, construction drawings, method statements (RAMS), and risk assessments for mechanical installations.
- Monitor project progress, manage construction schedules, delays, variations, and cost control, implementing mitigation and recovery strategies.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, mechanical engineering standards, and construction quality assurance procedures.
- Support commissioning and testing of mechanical systems, including HVAC commissioning, pressure testing, flushing, balancing, and system validation.
- Lead site meetings, progress reporting, and stakeholder communication with internal teams and clients.
Necessary Requirements of the Mechanical Contracts Manager
- Qualification & Experience: Degree or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline, with 7–15+ years’ experience in mechanical project management or mechanical contracts management within construction or M&E contracting.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in HVAC systems, mechanical piping, plant room installation, building services coordination, and mechanical commissioning processes.
- Commercial & Delivery Experience: Experience managing large‑scale mechanical packages (€20M–€50M+), including programme management, subcontractor coordination, and cost control.
- Leadership & Coordination: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage site teams, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams in fast‑track construction environments. xcfaprz
