WoodmenLife is seeking a Manager – Data Analytics to lead our Enterprise Data Warehouse and Data Analytics functions within the newly created AI & Data Analytics group in Business Technology. This hands‑on technical leadership role directly manages a team of five data engineers and analysts and plays a central role in advancing the organization’s data maturity and analytics capabilities. This leader is both a strategist and practitioner—guiding data solutions, shaping architecture direction, mentoring technical staff, and ensuring our analytics platforms support enterprise objectives. The Manager – Data Analytics ensures that trusted, well‑structured data is available to support strategic decisions, improve member experience, and strengthen operational performance. Your work directly supports critical areas such as financial stability, fraud prevention, operational efficiency, regulatory readiness, and modernization efforts. By leading the team responsible for the enterprise data warehouse and key analytics initiatives, you will help WoodmenLife turn data into a competitive advantage—not just a system to maintain. Your leadership will influence decision‑making enterprise‑wide and contribute to shaping the future of our analytics capabilities. What You’ll Do
Core Responsibilities
Serve as the senior data leader across major analytics initiatives, guiding data architecture and technical strategy. Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing team of Data Engineers and Data Analysts. Facilitate technical discussions on data architecture, reporting, analytics, and platform strategy. Partner with stakeholders including Actuary, Legal, Core Operations, Fraternal, and Marketing. Oversee and contribute to the development of the enterprise data warehouse, analytic platforms, and associated roadmaps. Direct data technology implementations and improvements across multiple teams and systems. Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment with the target data architecture vision. Manage vendor relationships and guide technical evaluations. Establish standards for data architecture, engineering, and analytics development. Monitor emerging trends in data technologies to inform WoodmenLife’s future data ecosystem. Ensure adherence to development processes, quality standards, and delivery timelines. Educate internal customers on data and analytics strategies and value. Serve as liaison between business and technical teams to ensure clarity and alignment. Maintain compliance with security and data governance policies. Travel:
Up to 15% as needed. Daily Activities Snapshot
Troubleshoot data and reporting challenges. Coach team members and review solution designs. Meet with stakeholders to clarify requirements and assess satisfaction. Brainstorm analytical approaches and reporting structures with the team. Contribute hands‑on to technical solutions when appropriate. Key Technologies
Experience with the following is highly valuable: Snowflake Power BI, SSRS Cloud data storage, data lakes, data warehouses Minimum Qualifications
5+ years in a hands‑on SQL DBA, Data Architect, or analytics/reporting leadership role. Expert‑level SQL Server knowledge and architecture skills. Strong familiarity with Snowflake, Azure, and analytical design patterns. Proven experience leading and motivating technical teams. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving abilities. High awareness of IT and data security standards. Experience managing vendors and supporting enterprise‑scale data initiatives. Desired Qualifications
Insurance or financial services industry experience. This role reports directly to the Director & Chief Data Officer, who leads with an informed, data‑driven approach focused on clear trade‑offs, transparency, and rapid feedback loops to support effective delivery and continuous improvement. Key Projects & Strategic Impact
This team owns WoodmenLife’s enterprise data warehouse and supports analytics initiatives powered by structured, normalized enterprise data. Active projects include fraud analytics, with ongoing work supporting enterprise modernization and advanced analytics initiatives. 30/60/90 Day Priorities
First 30 Days: Build relationships with team and stakeholders; learn organizational priorities, communication styles, and data domains. Next 60 Days: Deepen understanding of the data environment and technology stack; begin shaping architecture and solution direction. By 90 Days: Lead delivery of data and analytics solutions; establish coaching rhythms and operational processes that accelerate team productivity.
