We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Engineer to join our team, working on high-profile development projects. As a key technical leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the engineering aspects of construction from inception to handover. You will bridge the gap between design teams, subcontractors, and site management, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while identifying opportunities for value engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Engineering Leadership: Oversee all on-site setting-out engineers, ensuring accurate dimensional control and technical accuracy of site surveys, layouts, and foundations.
- Design & Technical Review: Review architectural, structural, and service drawings for buildability and compliance. Raise RFIs (Request for Information) and resolve design issues to mitigate delays.
- Quality Assurance & Control (QA/QC): Implement project Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), conducting detailed checks (shuttering, steel, concrete pours) to ensure compliance with specifications and building regulations.
- Subcontractor Management: Coordinate subcontractors and services, ensuring their works are completed in line with drawings, site schedules, and quality standards.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all works are executed in accordance with health and safety legislation, including temporary works coordination and safety management systems.
- Documentation & Reporting: Manage as-built drawings, technical submittals, and site records to facilitate BCAR compliance and project handover.
- Project Planning & Value Engineering: Assist the Project Manager with program monitoring, material reconciliation, and identifying value engineering opportunities to drive cost efficiency.
- Mentorship: Lead and mentor junior/intermediate engineers on-site, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
Requirements
- Education: A Degree (Level 8) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 2 years in a senior site engineer or similar role, preferably with a developer or main contractor.
- Technical Skills: Extensive experience using surveying equipment (Total Station, GPS, Laser levels) and proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Irish/UK building regulations, construction methodologies, and quality systems.
- Leadership: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team management skills. xcfaprz
- Certification: Membership (or working towards chartered status) of a professional body (e.g., Engineers Ireland, ICE) is advantageous.
