Data Engineer

As a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you will design, build, modernise, and maintain a financial data visualization and reporting engine that directly informs high‑value investment insights. You will take technical ownership of existing tooling, work closely with analysts and business stakeholders, and drive the evolution of a platform that transforms complex datasets into clear, actionable visual outputs.

• 
  
• Own and evolve a critical data visualization & reporting engine end‑to‑end
  
• Write and maintain scripts that parse, store, manipulate, graph, and visualize financial datasets
  
• Modernise legacy scripting systems for CI/CD, monitoring, quality and automation
  
• Partner with financial analysts and senior stakeholders to understand their unique data & visualization needs
  
• Collaborate with technology owners of existing reporting systems, ensuring smooth transition and continuity
  
• Drive improvements in reliability, performance, documentation and operational excellence
  
• Act independently with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  

• 
  
• 7+ years in software development or data engineering
  
• Strong proficiency in Linux (networking, processes, filesystem, cron, systemctl)
  
• Advanced shell scripting
  
• Commercial experience with Python and/or Perl in production environments
  
• Strong understanding of data science concepts, statistical methods and data analysis tooling
  
• Deep experience with SQL, relational schema design & performance optimisation
  
• Experience generating visualizations and charts from financial or analytical data
  
• Comfortable using CI/CD pipelines, Git, automated deployment workflows
  
• Experience modernising legacy scripting ecosystems
  
• Knowledge of pipelines using message queues, APIs, schedulers or workflow managers
  
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure)
  
• Python for data automation, ML, or API development
  
• Experience building internal libraries or reusable tooling
  
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills
  
• Ability to take ownership of a complex, script‑heavy codebase
  
• Confidence working directly with xcfaprz stakeholders, translating needs into technical solutions
