Job Summary
Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will conduct comprehensive, non‑treatment disability evaluations for U.S. Veterans as part of the VA Compensation & Pension (C&P) exam process. This role focuses on objective assessment, documentation, and completion of DBQs (Disability Benefits Questionnaires) to support accurate disability ratings.
No diagnosis, treatment, or clinical decision-making outside the exam is required.
Responsibilities
Perform structured history and physical examinations in accordance with VA Disability criteria.
Complete DBQs and exam reports with accuracy, clarity, and timely submission.
Review medical records prior to the evaluation and incorporate findings as required.
Utilize electronic health records and VA‑approved software systems.
Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and VA-specific guidelines.
Provide respectful, trauma‑informed care to Veterans throughout the evaluation process.
Communicate professionally and clearly with clinical support teams and administrative staff.
Ensure exams remain objective and non‑adversarial.
Qualifications
- Valid, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license (State-specific).
Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing (MSN, DNP).
Current national board certification (ANCC or AANP).
Minimum 1–2 years of clinical practice preferred (primary care, urgent care, ER, orthopedics, mental health, or similar).
Experience with VA disability exams (C&P) is preferred but not required—training available.
Strong documentation and time-management skills.
Ability to perform physical examinations and follow standardized templates.
