A new opportunity has arisen for a
Mechanical Design Engineer
for Rolls‑Royce, to join the AE Defense Programs Design team. As a design engineer you will work within a team of skilled engineers, analysts, and project leads to provide mechanical designs and technical support for a range of components and sub‑systems on the AE Engine product line. This will include turbine blades, vanes, blade tracks, and hot section structural components. Within this great program family, the successful candidate will find challenges and opportunities to grow their skills in engineering and in leadership.

What You Will Be Doing
Deliver on concept generation, detailed definition, and validation requirements in the development of solutions to address the design problems identified by the AE Programs.
Support supply chain efforts to procure hardware from multiple suppliers including concession consultation and execution of Drawing Alteration Requests (DARs).
Provide engineering solutions for development and/or service‑related hardware issues including Engine Investigations, Root Cause Investigations, and Technical Variance consultation.
Create detailed drawings and complete dimensional tolerance stacks and establish Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
Prepare and present technical presentations and associated technical reports in delivery of solutions for the AE Program and our customers.
Operate as part of a broader design team working to apply their skills to components beyond the immediate compressor needs, including turbine rotatives and externals.

Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2+ years of experience OR;
A Master’s degree in Engineering OR;
JD/PHD in Engineering.

Preferred Requirements
Experience with component design methods and practices to include Rotor Integrity, Structural Analysis, Manufacturability, Thermals and Fatigue Life assessments.
Broader experience with rotating and static component design in highly stressed or critical assemblies.
Familiar and experienced working on projects in a highly regulated and high‑impact environment.
Experience working with Siemens NX, Teamcenter and/or ANSYS Workbench.
Experience with the definition release process and GD&T.
Experience with computer programming and design optimization.
Experience working with manufacturing and/or quality, especially with regards to the assessment of non‑conforming hardware.
