TACNET CB-ISEA Mid-level Network Engineer (Fleet Support) SAIC is seeking this role in Everett, WA. The position is remote but must be local to the area due to on‑site needs. The engineer will regularly provide support aboard U.S. Navy ships and will work with Active Duty personnel and government staff to deliver high‑quality repair and technical support for Navy afloat networks, including systems such as ADNS, ISNS, CANES, FSW, CENTRIXS, Legacy SCI, VIXS, and WRBS. Travel within the U.S. and internationally may be required (approximately 25%) with occasional after‑hours support.
Job Duties
Provide break/fix IT support in a fast paced shipboard environment and troubleshoot LAN issues to determine effective resolutions.
Perform root cause analysis and recommend permanent configuration or system changes when needed.
Collaborate with external partners, consultants, vendors, and government agencies to resolve inter‑system issues and support integration efforts.
Deliver server and network break/fix support, including remote troubleshooting of servers, networks, desktops, and peripheral devices.
Advise and guide Navy customers on best practices for maintaining afloat networks and associated components supporting data, voice, and communication services.
Participate in technical meetings, prepare progress updates, and deliver briefs and presentations as needed.
Support engineering and design reviews through participation in integrated product teams.
Requirements
Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience. Additional years of experience in lieu of degree to be considered.
Must have an Active Secret Clearance to start.
Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI after start.
3+ years of experience supporting military network environments relevant to the listed responsibilities.
Administration experience with Cisco switches/routers, Windows Server, or Linux.
Working knowledge of core networking concepts and protocols.
Current
DoD IAT Level II
certification (e.g.,
CompTIA Security+ ).
Ability to obtain an approved Operating System certification (e.g.,
CCNA ,
Microsoft Server Hybrid Administrator Associate ,
Linux+ ,
VCP , or equivalent cloud certifications) within 6 months of hire.
Desired Skills
Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise scale networks (LAN/WAN/MAN/datacenter).
Proficiency with enterprise wireless technologies (802.11 standards, controller‑based systems, RF design, tuning, and modern security such as WPA3/802.1X).
Knowledge of high availability architectures including HSRP/VRRP, redundant WAN edges, load balancing, and resilient datacenter fabrics.
Hands on experience with next generation firewalls, segmentation approaches, and zero trust architectures across large networks.
Experience supporting hybrid infrastructures integrating on prem networks with Azure, AWS, or GovCloud and secure identity integration.
Strong troubleshooting skills, including performing root cause analysis and developing corrective actions that minimize operational impact.
Ability to collaborate with customers, partners, and engineering teams to resolve high severity issues and represent the team in cross functional forums.
1+ years of experience with IT ticketing systems such as HEAT, TrackIT, Magic, Remedy, Peregrine, or HELIX.
Experience supporting Microsoft Office and Windows OS in enterprise environments.
Familiarity with afloat Navy systems including CANES, ADNS, CENTRIXS, FSW, ISNS, ONE NET, SCI‑Networks, SUB LAN, VIXS, WRBS, CND, and SCIP IWF.
Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
