Job Overview This role is to design, build, and maintain scalable data infrastructure that supports enterprise reporting, financial reconciliation, and operational analytics. The Senior Data Engineer will report to the Director of IT Governance & Strategy and collaborate closely with the CIO, data analysts, finance stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure the integrity and stability of our data ecosystem. This is a fully remote, contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term conversion potential.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, optimize, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines.
Develop and support ingestion frameworks (API-based and file-based) across multiple external platforms.
Implement data quality validation, deduplication logic, reconciliation controls, and financial accuracy checks.
Build Spark/Python-based transformation and orchestration logic.
Participate in incident management and root cause analysis for production data issues.
Create and maintain technical documentation, playbooks, and knowledge transfer materials to reduce single points of failure.
Support strategic initiatives requiring scalable, resilient, and compliant data architecture.
Required Experience
7-10+ years of experience in data engineering.
Proven experience designing scalable data pipelines in cloud environments.
Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency in SQL.
Strong hands‑on experience with Spark and Python.
Deep understanding of ETL/ELT architecture and data pipeline orchestration.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex data issues quickly end-to-end.
Data Governance & Analysis
Advanced knowledge of data governance practices, standards, and compliance frameworks.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret both high‑level patterns and granular datasets.
Experience implementing data quality controls and reconciliation processes.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field preferred (equivalent experience accepted).
Master’s degree or certifications such as CDMP or DGSP are a plus.
