The Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) works under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I. The ITS II serves as a technical lead and subject matter expert in data administration and data management, demonstrating an in-depth understanding and innovative problem-solving where guidance is not readily available. The ITS II plays a major role advising management and formulating IT strategy and policy at the CPUC. The ITS II acts as a lead over lower-level staff.
The ITS II works in the Software Engineering, System Engineering, and Information Security domains with limited work in the IT Project Management domain. The ITS II may lead staff working in the Business Technology Management and Client Services domains.
The ITS II will work on developing and updating Data and GIS inventories and performing data classification in conjunction with the CPUC program staff and the Information Security Office. This position will also provide applications support for systems developed in Python and R and well as provide support for RedHat Linux, Anaconda, and PostGreSQL environments. The ITS II will also provide data warehouse support, including developing strategies for migrating siloed data to the CPUC data warehouse environment to support Enterprise Data Analytics efforts.

Working Conditions
This is a statewide recruitment. This position can be filled in the following locations: Sacramento, San Francisco or Los Angeles. All identified locations will be considered as one candidate pool to fill one position.
This position requires travel.
This is a hybrid position that will require the selected candidate to report to their assigned headquarter office a minimum of two (2) days a week. Hybrid positions may be eligible for telework under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. In accordance with CPUC Telework Policy, telework arrangements are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time.

3 years experience as a team technical lead and/or technical subject matter expert for data technologies. 3 years experience developing Data and GIS inventories and performing data classification. 3 years experience developing on and supporting Python, R, Linux, Anaconda, and PostGreSQL. 3 years experience supporting data warehouses and enterprise data analytics. 3 years experience supporting ETL (extract, transform, load) for enterprise data.
