Why Hover wants you As a Sales Engineer at Hover, you will play a critical role in shaping how our largest and most strategic insurance customers evaluate and adopt our products. You’ll partner closely with Account Executives to lead technical discovery, deliver compelling product demonstrations, and ensure customers clearly understand how Hover fits into their workflows and broader ecosystems.
This is a unique opportunity to join a growing function within our Insurance vertical, where you’ll have the autonomy to help define how we engage customers technically and influence how the team scales. You’ll operate at the intersection of customer needs, product innovation, and revenue growth—making a direct impact on our $1M+ customer segment.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with Account Executives to lead technical discovery and solution design
Deliver tailored product demos for prospective and existing customers
Scope and validate customer workflows prior to pilot execution
Act as the primary technical point of contact during the pre‑sales process
Translate customer needs into actionable product and engineering insights
Collaborate with GTM, Product, and Engineering teams to improve customer outcomes
Your background includes
3–6 years of experience in Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or a similar pre‑sales role supporting complex products
Experience working in fast‑paced or startup environments, with comfort navigating ambiguity and evolving processes
Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences
Proven experience partnering closely with sales teams to drive customer outcomes
Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross‑functionally across Product, Engineering, and GTM teams
Strong problem‑solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges
Nice‑to‑haves
Experience working within insurance, property tech, or adjacent ecosystems
Familiarity with enterprise customer workflows and integrations
Experience supporting pilots, proofs of concept, or technical evaluations

Hybrid roles at Hover Hover has Hubs in San Francisco and New York City, where we expect that all employees living within a 50‑mile radius of our offices will come into their local Hover office at least three times a week to build rapport and foster organic connection. At this time, Hover is not considering fully remote roles.
The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $138,000 - $170,000 annually. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all applicable US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
