What you can expect as an IT Systems Administrator: As an IT Systems Administrator, you will support and maintain the technology environment for a 200‑person organization. This role blends hands‑on end‑user support with systems administration, cloud identity management, security operations, and compliance support. You will serve as an escalation point from Level 1 help desk while also owning core IT systems, automation, and security initiatives.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, improving operational maturity, and contributing to a secure, compliant, and scalable IT environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Advanced Technical Escalation: Serve as the Level 2 escalation point for complex hardware, OS (Windows/macOS), and identity issues, ensuring high‑touch resolution and minimal downtime for all end‑users.
Enterprise Systems Administration: Manage and maintain the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange, Teams, and SharePoint, while overseeing core Windows Server services (AD, DNS, DHCP, and GPOs).
Endpoint & Lifecycle Management: Own the full device lifecycle for Windows and macOS notebooks using MDM tools like Intune to automate provisioning, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
Security & Incident Response: Proactively monitor infrastructure health and security alerts (EDR/NGAV), leading the triage, investigation, and documentation of incidents to protect company data.
Compliance & Audit Readiness: Implement and enforce IT controls aligned with SOC 2 and ISO 27001 standards, partnering with HR, Legal, and Finance to ensure audit‑ready documentation and evidence collection.
Infrastructure & Network Support: Administer critical physical and virtual infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and VMware platforms, to ensure high availability and performance across the network.
Automation & Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to automate routine administrative tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or APIs to improve team efficiency and operational maturity.
Strategic Risk Management: Support business continuity and disaster recovery processes while participating in IT roadmap planning to align technical goals with organizational growth.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
8+ years of experience in IT systems administration and Level 2 help desk support.
Strong experience supporting mixed Windows and macOS environments.
Hands‑on experience with: Windows Server (AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO)
Azure AD (Entra ID), Microsoft 365, Office 365 administration
Endpoint management and MDM solutions
Help‑desk / ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, ServiceDesk)
Scripting and automation experience (PowerShell strongly preferred).
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs).
Experience with identity protocols (SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect).
Ability to document systems, processes, and incidents clearly and thoroughly.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting SOC 2 and/or ISO 27001 compliance programs.
Familiarity with security tooling such as EDR/XDR (e.g., CrowdStrike), SIEM, and vulnerability scanners.
Experience with: Intune, Kandji, or similar device management platforms
Cloud backup and DR solutions
VMware or cloud IaaS platforms (AWS, Azure)
Familiarity with Linux and scripting is a plus.
Prior experience in a SaaS or mid‑size corporate environment.
Benefits and Compensation: In compliance with CA Pay Transparency, the target salary for this position is $160,000 to $175,000 depending on skills and experience. The base salary range is $125,000 to $225,000. In addition to base salary, we offer an annual bonus opportunity and comprehensive benefits and perks, including group health coverage, company HSA contribution, 401(k) matching, medical disability and family leave benefits, fitness reimbursement, community service days, charitable donation matching, and more. Remote work is an option or you may work from our San Francisco office.
