Overview
Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Back End Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Colombia. Our client is an innovative real-time financial planning and analysis platform designed specifically for private equity (PE) firms and their portfolio companies. The company was founded to address challenges in data collaboration, reporting, and forecasting faced by private equity funds and their portfolio companies, which often rely heavily on manual spreadsheet processes that slow decision-making. The solution consolidates financial and operational data into a single platform using powerful, low-code modeling tools designed for end users. It connects to accounting systems, CRMs, HR platforms, production systems, spreadsheets, and databases, enabling PE firms to see how operational metrics directly impact financial performance. The platform automates tedious spreadsheet tasks, reducing errors and accelerating financial close and reporting processes by up to 10 times. The company is headquartered in Austin, Texas. It continues to expand its client base with innovative features, including upcoming AI and machine learning capabilities such as AI copilots and automatic forecasting. Fully remote, with 4+ hours overlap with EST/PST; flexible hours, 2–3 syncs/week, optional quarterly team meetups, and annual conference trip. There are offices in Barcelona (Spain) and Austin (USA) for those who prefer in-person work. The team of 4-person engineering is building from the ground up. You’ll build systems that ingest, transform, and serve both financial and operational data, each with unique requirements for latency, accuracy, and scale. Responsibilities
Design pipelines that connect to over 100 systems (APIs, CSV, ODBC). Build scalable connectors for ERPs, CRMs, HRIS, and production systems. Use Polars and DuckDB to process diverse datasets. Combine operational and financial data into KPIs. Enhance the multidimensional time-series modeling engine. Build high-performance APIs (FastAPI, Arrow Flight). Implement caching and enrichment layers. Develop anomaly detection and predictive analytics. Generate intelligent mapping suggestions that link operational drivers to financial outcomes. Your first 90 days' assignments: Week 1–2: Ship your first small improvement. Month 1: Build or improve a data connector. Month 2: Own a performance optimization. Month 3: Lead design of a new AI-powered feature. Requirements
3+ years of experience in backend development with Python 3. Advanced knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL preferred). Strong understanding of API development (FastAPI, Flask, or similar). Understanding of data modeling fundamentals Knowledge of Git and collaborative development workflows. Nice to have
Experience with Polars, DuckDB, or similar data analysis tools. Experience with Redis or similar caching. Experience with GCP. Familiarity with dimensional modeling/data warehouse concepts. Knowledge of TypeScript & Vue.js. Background in financial/operational data. About Svitla
