Network Security Lead

Cork OR Dublin Location - Hybrid 2 Days Onsite, 3 Days Remote

I'm currently partnering with a leading Irish organisation to hire a Network Security Lead. This is a key technical role responsible for strengthening perimeter, edge, and internal segmentation controls across complex on‑prem, cloud, and OT environments.

As the Network Security Lead, you'll take ownership of firewall architecture, engineering, and operations — ensuring high availability, secure remote access, effective segmentation, and strong integration with detection/response processes. You'll also provide day‑to‑day guidance to junior analysts and play a critical role in enabling secure change at pace.

• Design and maintain enterprise network security architecture aligned to Zero Trust
  
• Lead firewall rule governance, policy lifecycle, and secure change management
  
• Manage next‑gen firewalls (Palo Alto / Check Point), proxies, IDPS, PKI and VPNs
  
• Troubleshoot complex network flows and ensure reliable high‑availability designs
  
• Support cloud and hybrid connectivity (Azure Firewall, vNGFW, NSGs/ASGs)
  
• Coordinate vulnerability scanning, patching, audits, and penetration testing
  
• Contribute to incident response with rapid containment actions
  
• Mentor junior analysts and collaborate with IT, cloud, and OT teams
  

• 
  
• 5+ years in IT with strong network security/firewall engineering experience
  
• Deep hands‑on expertise with Palo Alto xcfaprz and/or Check Point
  
• Strong understanding of routing, NAT, VPNs, BGP, PKI, and segmentation
  
• Experience with Azure networking and hybrid cloud environments
  
• Strong troubleshooting, SIEM integration, and documentation skills
  
• Knowledge of automation/IaC (API, Ansible, Terraform) is a bonus
