Senior Network Engineer

Job Description

The Senior Network Engineer will provide general support, design, proactive assessment, and monitoring of the satellite network. This position will require the use of satellite platforms, applications, tools, routing, testing, and design to support client customers and internal stakeholders experiencing network or escalated site issues.

The engineer will collaborate with the Activations Lead and Lead Engineer to identify, understand, troubleshoot, and resolve RF issues. They will design, support, manage carriers, and upgrade platforms, demonstrating knowledge of its functionalities by working with the Lead Engineer. Additionally, the engineer will collaborate with teleports to address RF concerns related to platform performance and work with stakeholders to identify and resolve RF-related issues.

The engineer will train on the use of internal carrier monitoring and analysis tools, monitor platform issues with vendor/support/customers/activations, and assist in resolving them. They will also train and understand Splunk dashboards and functionality, monitor data from Splunk dashboards, and contribute to their successful usage. The engineer will assist Lead Engineers with network design for teleport infrastructure and assist with the design, support, carrier management, and network upgrades of the platform, gaining in-depth knowledge of its functionalities.

The engineer will shadow the Lead Engineer to understand duties and responsibilities for primary/back-up on-call support and participate in an on-call rotation, providing 24/7 after-hours support for network issues. They will participate in hardware testing for satellite systems and support applications to review, track, and troubleshoot terminal status. The engineer will assist with running APIs to build customer sites on the platform, including adding customer IP addresses, provisioning, and programming sites for final activation. They will also shadow and train to complete hands-on training and testing of platforms, providing 24/7 after-hours on-call support for platform issues.

Skills and Requirements

5 years of network engineering experience with a thorough understanding of TCP/IP technologies and routing protocols.

Knowledgeable of radio frequency networks.

Prior experience utilizing data visualization tools. (Splunk, Power BI, Tableau)

Associate Degree Prior experience creating dashboards in Splunk.

Bachelor Degree null
