About the Role
The Bid Manager will lead the end‑to‑end bid and tender process for complex construction and mission‑critical projects, ensuring competitive, accurate, and commercially robust submissions. Based in Dublin, this role will draw on strong quantity surveying and general contractor experience to manage pricing strategy, contractor engagement, and internal quotation processes across multiple product sets. The role also includes leading and developing the quotations team, setting standards for scope definition, pricing models, and bid governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full bid lifecycle, from tender receipt through to final submission.
- Review tender documents, scopes of work, and contract requirements to ensure accurate and compliant bids.
- Develop and own pricing models across all product sets and project types.
- Manage and mentor the quotations team, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timely delivery.
- Coordinate inputs from sales, engineering, procurement, and operations to build complete bid submissions.
- Engage with main contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
- Apply strong commercial judgment to risk, margin, and value engineering decisions.
- Support senior stakeholders with bid strategy, commercial insights, and tender reviews.
- Ensure governance, approvals, and bid documentation are completed in line with internal controls.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of bid processes, tools, and commercial frameworks.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Education – Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or equivalent.
- Experience – Significant experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager, or Bid Manager; background working for a General Contractor, ideally Tier 2, on large‑scale projects; proven experience managing tenders, contractors, and complex scopes of work; experience leading or managing a quotations or commercial team; strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement routes, and cost control.
- Skills – Strong commercial and financial acumen with advanced pricing and cost modelling capability; excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills; ability to manage multiple bids and competing deadlines simultaneously; high attention to detail and strong governance mindset; clear, confident communication at senior stakeholder level; leadership capability with a collaborative, hands‑on approach.
