TOBIN is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Project Manager to join our Environment & Planning team. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing complex environmental and planning projects, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, client satisfaction, and strong team performance.
This role is available in any of our 5 offices across Ireland; Dublin, Galway, Limerick, Sligo or Castlebar, on a hybrid basis.
Candidates must possess:
- A minimum Level 8 Honours Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent qualification aligned to the role).
- A Level 9 Master’s Degree in a relevant field is desirable.
- Chartered membership with a recognised environmental professional body is essential.
As Senior Project Manager, you will take full ownership of the technical, financial, and operational delivery of projects within the Environment & Planning business unit. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, coordinate environmental assessments, and ensure best‑in‑class project execution.
Environmental & Planning Leadership:
- Lead the full EIA process, including preparation and delivery of EIARs/PECRs and all associated environmental documentation.
- Provide expert environmental guidance to ensure compliance with planning regulations and environmental requirements.
- Stay informed on evolving planning and environmental legislation, policy changes, and updates to local authority plans.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Liaise effectively with clients, project teams, subconsultants, regulators, stakeholders, and the public.
- Maintain strong communication channels with internal senior leadership—including Technical Directors and Operations teams.
Project & Resource Management:
- Oversee project planning, scheduling, resourcing, and team management in consultation with the relevant Technical Director.
- Ensure compliance with all legal obligations, including Health & Safety requirements.
- Coordinate risk assessments for all site visits in collaboration with divisional leads (e.g., Lead Ecologist, Senior Hydrogeologist).
Financial & Quality Management:
- Manage project cash flow, invoice forecasting, and delivery milestones in agreement with Operations leadership.
- Ensure all work aligns with TOBIN QMS/EMS/OHSAS systems.
- Establish project briefs, pricing schedules, and secure client acceptance of terms and conditions.
- Ensure project team members and subconsultants understand their scope, responsibilities, and budget parameters.
- Guarantee that all designs are prepared and independently reviewed by appropriately competent personnel.
- Oversee the preparation of high‑quality submissions that meet client requirements.
- Record all scope changes promptly and proactively communicate cost and timeline impacts to the client.
Team Development:
- Mentor and support Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Graduates within the Environment & Planning team.
- Guide team members toward Chartership and professional development milestones.
- Level 8 Honours Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience leading EIAR preparation for large-scale infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams on EIA projects.
- Strong understanding of the Irish EIA process, planning policy, and relevant legislation.
- Chartered membership with an environmental professional organisation. xcfaprz

- Technical background in an environmental discipline relevant to EIA (e.g., noise, air quality, etc.).
