The Data eNgineering and Analytics (DNA) Wizardry team is excited to have a new wizard join our coven! The DNA team spans across Data Architecture (DA), Data Engineering (DE), Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Science (DS) functional areas, and is responsible for providing data and analytic solutions for the North American Stores (NAS) Organization.

We are seeking a Sr Technical Program Manager that will oversee and manage the design, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation for analytical products and programs across NAS. This role will will bridge ambiguous customer requirements with practical implementation, orchestrating business requirements with technical development from inception to delivery.

There are four key elements to this role: 1) Program Leadership 2) Technical Expertise 3) Stakeholder Management 4) Process Excellence.

Program Leadership includes: 1) Managing concurrent requests, practicing prioritization to ensure the most impactful products/programs and critical tasks are worked on and delivered first 2) Resolving ambiguities and aligning team plans to minimize technical risk and maximizing odds of product/program success 3) Evaluating solutions effectively and making decisions that balance business value and technical risks 4) Managing resource allocation and cross-functional teams using an Agile development framework, from concept to launch 5) Communicating project risks, progress, launches, and retrospectives transparently to all stakeholders and teams 6) Mitigating risks against timelines and delivery, escalating to the appropriate stakeholders when necessary.

Technical Expertise includes: 1) Transforming raw thoughts from stakeholders into clear objectives for the DNA Wizardry team 2) Translating business requirements from stakeholders into technical specifications, driving the execution of development from design to deployment 3) Leveraging AI to automate repetitive tasks, analyzing large datasets to identify trends and potential issues, optimizing resource allocation, predicting risks, and ultimately improving the efficiency and effectiveness of managing complex technical programs.

Stakeholder Management includes: 1) Balancing requirements and development between customers and the DNA Wizardry team, ensuring we make smart trade-offs by considering the larger picture (e.g., business goals, throughput expectations, quality requirements, efficiency, maintainability, operability). 2) Managing the adoption of solutions to ensure they are fully integrated and utilized within an organization by users, maximizing its benefits and achieving the desired outcomes.

Process Excellence includes: 1) Developing a systematic approach to improve processes to achieve better efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction 2) Building mechanisms that identify, analyze, and optimize processes to deliver consistent results. 3) Defining requirements and owning the roadmap for the tools and processes used during product development 4) Creating processes, tools (i.e. dashboards, reports) and mechanisms that measure and continuously monitor the efficiency, effectiveness, and impact of a program against its set objectives. 5) Establishing better mechanisms to publicize status updates to stakeholders and customers. 6) Developing audit mechanisms for program risks along with mitigation strategies.

• Measure, monitor and report on project progress to stakeholders and executive leadership

• Conduct post-mortem analysis and lessons learned sessions to facilitate continuous improvement

• Stay abreast of new trends and technologies that could impact your projects

A day in the life

The Sr Technical Program Manager is a key leader on DNA Wizardry team. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders, Data Engineers, BI Engineers, Data/Applied Scientists, and Machine Learning Engineers, partnering with cross-functional product teams to deliver high-quality, scalable data products. You will assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make tradeoffs, balance business needs versus technical constraints, and encourage risk-taking behavior to maximize business benefit. Successful candidates will have a technical background, be detail-driven, and possess excellent problem-solving abilities.

The Sr Technical Program Manager serves as a trusted advisor to stakeholders. In collaboration with Stakeholders, Data Engineers, Business Intelligence Engineers and Data Scientists, you will deliver actionable solutions, ensure effective measurement of results, and design communications that report program performance.

The Sr Technical Program Manager will 1) Drive a customer-obsessed culture through measurable actions and outcomes. 2) Maintain the highest standards across all program deliverables with clear quality metrics. 3) Simplify processes to optimize result delivery and improve efficiency. 4) Develop team members' technical and leadership capabilities through structured mentorship.

We ensure proper data governance, visibility, and accessibility for all managed datasets. Our solutions focus on improving business performance (Increase Sales, Decrease Time and/or Reduce Cost) for the NAS organization.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent

7+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

5+ years of analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentations experience

Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps

Experience managing technical programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure, complex systems, systems engineering

Preferred Qualifications

7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
