How you'll make a difference? The Internship Program has been developed to provide students with a fun yet rewarding summer through hands-on experience and numerous opportunities to network with employees in the organization. The internship position is meant to provide projects focusing on ways to propel Orthofix forward, while also advancing the student's career. Successful candidates for this internship position will gain valuable experience in the medical device industry, which could shape career decisions and create future employment opportunities.

What will your duties and responsibilities be?

Project 1:

Data Integration and reporting Orchestration. Also, precursor to help transition from Cognos to Power BI. Utilize Microsoft Data integration tool (ADF) to build EDW target schemas on MS Fabric Lakehouse / One Lake

Using Power BI, build data sets and data models using Direct Lake to read Lakehouse data

Build Power BI reports, dashboards and Row level security, use Power BI service to build Apps

Document, Validate, Test data and performance compared to existing Power BI solutions (using Direct connect or Import models) - note pros and cons

Work with tech leads / Cloud architects to evaluate cost/ ROI on solution compared to existing Oracle EDW sourced PBI reporting

Project 2: Gen AI/ ML exploration

Review EDW cataloging/ Lineage features using MS Fabric components or other means

Explore use cases in Power BI Co-Pilot and AI features and areas of implementation in Power BI

Project 3: Power BI refresh automation

Build automation of Power BI refreshes using Power Automate/ trigger-based refreshes

Misc Assignments:

Build other reports and data analytics solutions as instructed

Perform ad-hoc analyses to answer specific business questions.

Assist with the design and development of data models and data visualizations.

What skills and experience will you need?

Knowledge of Data Integration tools (eg Microsoft Azure Data Factory - ADF).

Understanding of Enterprise Data Warehouse concepts, Dimensional modelling.

Computer Science or Data Science background and understanding of Statistics/ Math concepts

Knowledge of predictive/prescriptive analytics on any tool.

What qualifications are preferred? The education, knowledge, skills and/or abilities listed below are preferred qualifications in addition to the minimum qualifications stated above.

Education/Certifications

:

Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science or related field.

Additional Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities

:

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI or similar.

Strong understanding/ skills in SQL and data querying languages.

Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality.

Passion for learning and continuously improving skills.

The anticipated base hourly rate for an employee who is located in California this position is $22.00 per hour. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc. The Company is a multi-state employer and this pay scale may not reflect the pay scale for an employee who works in other states or locations.
