JOB SUMMARY
(the purpose and general nature of the job):
Mechanical Engineer II possess a strong knowledge of basic engineering principles and is capable of supporting Research & Development activities as directed by senior level engineers or managers with little guidance. Mechanical Engineer II maybe tasked with the lead position on some projects depending on complexity and engineer availability.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
include the following:
Supports senior engineers with detailing drawings and preliminary designs.
Supports offsite tests and trials as required both domestically and internationally.
Supports R&D design activities and developments as assigned in a timely manner.
Provides creative and unique solutions to engineering and industry problems.
Follows instructions as directed from management and senior level engineers.
Documents workflow and individual design history and capable of presenting to management with short notice.
Offers creative, unique, and effective design solutions when presented with complex engineering problems as directed.
Constructs bill of materials in CAD/ERP as required.
Reviews work performed by junior level engineers and provides constructive criticism.
Capable of writing and facilitating test plans and interpreting data to make sound conclusions.
Communicates with customers as directed in a professional and efficient manner.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
Minimal requirements for education, knowledge and experience:
Strong Knowledge of GD&T principles.
Understanding of material properties and application thereof.
Basic understanding of finite element principles.
Good interpersonal skills/works well with others.
2-5 years experience with CAD software (Solidworks, Solid Edge, Creo, AutoCAD, Solidworks preferred) and PDM's.
Understands design configurations.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to function well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Advanced data analysis skills in Excel or Minitab.
Able to obtain a passport and travel both domestically and internationally.
Understanding of Six Sigma principles.
Experience with DFM and DFMEA analysis.
2-7 years of engineering experience.
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Experience in manufacturing or product development environment.
Proven track record of sound engineering.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. (office environment).
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times (plant floor environment).
