Major Duties Assists with installation, maintenance, and repair; installs, monitors, and administers computer software; provides user device and application support. This position serves as level 2 analyst on the IT Service Desk. This position troubleshoots desktops, laptops, mobile devices, or software applications. Performs upgrades and reimaging, sets up new workstations and relocates existing ones. When on call, respond to occasional after-hours calls from employees regarding critical technical issues.

Working knowledge and skills from a range of technologies to address work assignments Demonstrates a range of technical understanding to independently resolve routine and non-routine issues on software and/or hardware and to identify trends and make suggestions for technical modifications to solve future problems. Ability to consult with clients and other IT professionals to resolve technical problems and ensure client satisfaction Ability to document solutions that solve client problems and clearly presents these solutions. Proven skill in installing, repairing, and maintaining complex computer hardware and software. Ability to work independently on tasks, develops own work, schedules and monitors progress against defined parameters. Demonstrates a customer orientation and effectively communicates verbally and in writing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to an associate degree with an emphasis in computer technology or related field and 2 years of qualified experience. Experience with computer networking, telecommunications, hardware, and software support at a mid-level is required. Associate Leve Microsoft/Cisco/Fortinet/PMP/ITIL certifications have preference.
Supplemental Information SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Information Technology Director assigns work in terms of general instruction and guidelines. Completed work is reviewed for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES: Guidelines include technical manuals, user specifications, supervisory instructions, federal, state, and city laws, and department policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY: The work consists of varied technical duties. Frequently changing computer technologies and the need to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel contribute to the complexity of the work.
SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to assist with the performance of help desk, systems analysis, and maintenance duties. Successful performance helps ensure the efficient and effective provision of computer information services to all City departments.

PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
