Cloud Architect

My client based in Galway are currently on the lookout for an experienced Cloud Solutions Architect who is would be responsible for designing and implementing secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud platforms supporting a portfolio of enterprise SaaS products and digital services.

The role sits within a global engineering function and works closely with software engineering, product, and platform teams to deliver resilient, cloud-native architectures across multi-cloud environments.

This position is primarily remote with one day per week onsite in Galway for collaboration and planning activities.

• Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to design, implement, and evolve secure, scalable cloud-hosted solutions.
  
• Define and maintain cloud architecture standards, patterns, and operational best practices.
  
• Lead platform modernisation initiatives such as: cloud migrations and consolidation, containerisation and orchestration
  
• CI/CD automation and infrastructure as code
  
• Provide hands‑on expertise across multi‑cloud environments (primarily Azure and AWS).
  
• Design and implement secure data architectures, migration strategies, and resilience patterns.
  
• Ensure platforms meet security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  
• Enable continuous delivery by integrating cloud platforms with development pipelines and services.
  
• Troubleshoot complex distributed system issues and define sustainable architectural solutions.
  
• Contribute to architecture governance, documentation, and technical roadmaps.
  
• Mentor engineers and promote adoption of modern cloud practices and tooling.
  

• 
  
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  
• Significant experience in cloud architecture and platform engineering roles.
  
• Strong experience designing and operating multi‑cloud environments (Azure and AWS).
  
• Solid scripting/automation capability (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  
• Deep understanding of core infrastructure domains:
  
• Compute (Linux/Windows)
  
• Networking and connectivity
  
• Databases (relational and managed cloud services)
  
• Storage and backup
  
• Identity and access management
  
• Cloud security controls
  
• Proven track record delivering cloud transformation or platform modernisation initiatives.
  
• Experience implementing infrastructure automation and CI/CD enablement.
  
• Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
  
• Experience working within regulated or security‑sensitive environments is beneficial. xcfaprz
